Why We Love Queen Creek
Queen Creek is a town in Maricopa and Pinal counties within Arizona. The population was 26,361 at the 2010 census. Queen Creek was incorporated on Sept. 5, 1989, and has since adopted several award-winning plans designed to guide future growth, planning and land use as well as provide amenities.
Today, Queen Creek has grown from rich rural roots to what is one of the most innovatively planned family friendly home towns in Arizona.
There are a number of landmarks and points of interest in Queen Creek. The San Tan Historical Society Museum is on the National Registry for Historic Places and is open every Saturday morning. The Gold Mine Mountain area was the site of many mining claims. A short hike from the south end of Ellsworth Road takes you to the entrance of what used to be a 200-foot tunnel, now sealed for safety. Midway through the tunnel, one person reportedly found a gold vein that was 6-8 feet long. By the time equipment arrived to mine the gold, the vein had shifted in a fault line that could not be located again. Other fascinating sites abound in Queen Creek—a town rich in culture and history.
